Taking a Break

I dabble on a number of crafts but most often, polymer clay since I accept commissioned orders for it. And while it is enjoyable to express myself and get paid while doing it, I also need to do something different and deviate from the regular programming once in a while. Two days ago, I successfully finished a really big commissioned order. And after working on polymer clay for about three weeks straight, I craved for a different yet equally enjoyable activity and that is paper crafting. I bought some new crafting supplies abroad (mostly punchers, pliers and slicer) and they arrived this week. I took them out yesterday along with my old toys. These are some of yesterday’s output:

Those stamp pads were bought last year but I never got around using them, along with the new stamps. I just opened them yesterday. The 2” scallop puncher was on sale so I bought it though I was only eyeing the 1” round stamp. (Now you know the magic word – SALE!) I took out my wrapping paper books too – I have a LOT! But I can’t seem to find the courage to cut them! But I’ve already made some envelopes so I just used those leftover parts to punch some tags.

I was not able to make a lot though. I was still hoping for some sleep plus some time to watch some of my favorite TV series. But just the same, I had fun and I hope to do more paper crafting this weekend.

Project Life Workshop in Manila

Most often, when I want to learn a craft, I collect reading materials to “know” more about them. However, the problem is that I don’t get to read the books and magazines that I have hoarded, along with the materials I bought. It’s like wanting to be a dj and spending for new stanton dj mixers but keeping them inside the box, just gathering dusts – a total waste of money.

I realized that if I can personally observe someone demonstrating, say a craft or a technique, I can be easily motivated and try it myself. That is why, I have signed up for a Project Life workshop happening this month. I have been wanting to do it and have lots of materials and supplies bought, started on some pages but altogether stopped. Hopefully, this workshop will serve as a motivator since I am the self-designated family memory keeper. It is something that I want to do not only for myself but for our small family as well.

Everybody Needs a Hobby

project life wedding mini kit cardsMy Project Life mini kit finally arrived along with the pocket sleeves. However, the binder/ album where I will store them, I still have to order from a local supplier. Truth to be told, our space is getting really smaller because of all the crafting supplies that I have been hoarding. The husband is not complaining (yet) because he knows that pretty things make me happy and making even prettier things out of them make me even happier. I like books and magazines too. As I try to collect books and dabble on different crafts, I told him that I need a rather big studio/ home office where I can store them all.

On the contrary, my husband’s only hobby is watching TV series on his iPad or playing RPG on it. I suggested that he try to check out a woodworking supplies site and try woodwork perhaps but he insisted that he is fine with his hobbies. Hah. OK. Fine. Whatever. Haha! As long as he is happy, that is OK with me.
